Thoughts on show

Not the glamorous Cabaret we know and love. Very seedy, almost grotesque. Costumes looked sort of handmade (although not!) nothing matching, probably exactly like the clothes dancers in Berlin nightclubs in that time would have been wearing. The music was great as always, and cast talented, great singers and performers, but it was purposely loud and brash, and uncomfortable. It felt more 'real' than any version of Cabaret I've ever seen. I can't quite decide if that was a good thing, but it was definitely an experience!

Thoughts on venue

Interesting. Windey corridors and glitzy oddly lit bars, with performers everywhere. I reckon they achieved their objective. Take a cardi, the aircon is quite full on. Unless you're planning on drinking enough to keep you warm of course, which many did at this matinee! (no bad behaviour, thank god, just the clinking of bottles and glasses from time to time mid song!) Toilets 'cubicles' and 'cubicles and urinals' next door to each other. One of my fav new things to do is to listen to people in the queue discuss toilet arrangements in theatres. Lol

Thoughts on seat

I won the lottery (first time entering!) and got seat P9 for £25, 3 hours before curtain. It was a great seat. Plenty of leg room, on an aisle close to one of the cast entrances, easy to access and plenty of breathing space. A comfy seat. I could see everything well, except for Sally Bowles entrance because she was up on a balcony and the overhang meant that she couldn't be seen. But it was about 30 seconds and there was plenty else going on on stage to look at.
