https://www.theatremonkey.com/show/john-proctor-is-the-villain/. Not bad. Always totally hated "The Crucible" - one of those plays created so some t thicker people can think themselves very clever. Also nobody in the UK ever notes that the main theme never affected us, which explains why it didn't work here on its first run.
This is miles better, and not just thanks to the Green Bay Packers stuff in the set.
Anyone else seen it?
Loved it. Fab cast, heaps of energy, and really thought-provoking, life-affirming writing/staging/performances. I took my 14-year-old (who knows nothing of The Crucible yet but was all over the Taylor Swift mentions), who also adored it, plus it led to a great discussion in the bar afterwards.
Oh, well done taking your 14 year old - wish I'd been to Crucible before I was 14 so I might have liked it before English teacher wrecked it.
Can imagine the Taylor thing. I was a bit stumped by the other music but got there in the end.
What did you chat about in the bar?
Behaviour that's a red flag, a green flag, and a beige flag. The power of friendship. The power of music. What books and discussion can tell us / reveal about societies. Why English classes are so awesome (lol). Plus, the cast walked into the bar and we had a fab chat with them about hairbands flying off during energetic dance moves and life as a Swiftie. As you can imagine, great teen bants for parent and child.
That really is amazing @nic. Wide ranging stuff. Books do tell us so much and it is so sad people do not read any more.
Hmm on English classes. Junior High for sure, mine were great (until the teacher hit the bottle and ran off with the school trip fund). Senior High, just no - my therapist advises me never to go there, think happy Disney thoughts instead...
Wow on the cast. They must have been on an adrenaline rush after the show. Can imagine indeed. Another teen hooked on theatre, hopefully.
